Are we in Pitaya HEAVEN?

Pitaya - I always get asked about Pitaya - what kind of fruit is it? Why is it so pink? Is that natural? Is it good for you...? Well - here are the answers. And along with those, a little slice of HEAVEN right from the Trilogy rooftop..... intrigued...? Well you should be!

SO - What is Pitaya Anyway…?

Pitaya is also know as Dragon Fruit. In tropical and subtropical regions in South America and Asia, the dragon fruit flourishes and grows in abundance. Appropriately named, the dragon fruit’s outer skin is cactus-like, resembling that of the scales of a mythical dragon. Considered a cactus plant, its vibrant green and reddish-pink hues indicate that the fruit is full of nutrients, while the creamy white flesh spotted with black seeds gives way to many rich and natural properties.

Also known as pitaya, these fun-looking fruits contain around 60 calories each and are rich in vitamin C, B1, B2 and B3, and minerals such as iron, calcium, and phosphorus. And that’s not all. This is definitely one of the best “super fruits” out there.

Dragon fruit has an extremely low amount of cholesterol, which ultimately helps the body break down this fruit quickly, keeping you happy and healthy. It’s the perfect fruit to maintain your weight and satisfy your sweet tooth.

To clean up your digestive system, eat a dragon fruit. They have a high fiber content, which can assist with poor digestion and constipation. Eating the flesh and seeds, which contain good protein, will keep your body fortified and satisfied.

The high amount of fiber in dragon fruit can ultimately help regulate diabetes, as it can stabilize blood sugar levels by suppressing sugar spikes. However, with any dietary changes or modifications, always consult your doctor to make sure this is a good food for you.

Eating a dragon fruit with its rich antioxidants can keep the skin tight and young. You can even make a face mask using the fruit combined with honey as a natural alternative to anti-aging masks.

The Spell of Chemistry

They seemed to be luminescent, ethereal, all sitting together underneath a structure of cascading silks and candles lit ablaze. How did they all find each other, these glowing creatures? What chemistry bound the seemingly radioactive figures so that they gathered under the Full Moon at Trilogy Sanctuary?

There was no magic fairy dust that granted these humans a life of ease and joy. Their effortless dancing and explorative nature shone in each fire-lit baton and feather adorned costume, but these expressions are the symptoms of the labor of love. None of them has lived a life without a fair share of pain and struggle. Each creature proved home to a story of a once lost sense of self, an isolation that drove them mad, or a paralyzing fear of extending beyond a comfort zone. What rings true of human nature, is when lost, we tend towards isolation, which renders us unreachable and therefore helpless. “I’m different,” says fear. Now that “I’m different,” no one will understand me. And what’s worse is the reaction or vice I use to cope with being different is embarrassing, and I must hide it along with myself. We fear that no one and nothing will break the spell.

And so we find the community, our Tribe. A garden of humans who work together to grow as a whole. A labor of love. BIG love, the strongest antidote to fear and emotional paralysis. It really is funny that the last thing a depressed being wants is to be in a group, because they feel so obviously “different”.

Alone we are different, but together we belong.

The Tribe, strong and practiced, understands this feeling and has grown stronger beside it. These are the people who had to overcome the “different” once too in order to experience bliss. These are the people who seem to glow as they walk the streets with a lightness to their aura. The Tribe members. Most of these radioactive angels hardly know how to introduce themselves without an embrace. And it’s not just a hug. The hug is a symptom of and a metaphor for the way of being, where everything done is an act that closes the distance between hearts.

Maybe it’s only a hug. But maybe it’s more; a gesture that mends the chest and all its cavity’s innards together in a way that makes it whole so it too can radiate. The tribe reaches its arms out to heal, and to dance in the ease that is life’s sweetest nectar and most decadent bliss. All at once, the lonely is embraced as another has chosen to hold them as they bridge the gap between fear and freedom. When a broken heart enters the tribe, it is seen, heard, and nurtured. Body, mind, and soul.

Let the Fun Begin!!!

Wow, so it has almost been SIX MONTHS since I signed the lease on the property and we are still not open! I can’t believe it. If I had known the time it was going to take and the complications that would occur I might have reconsidered this whole project! What a ride it has been. But now I am here – and SO HAPPY to have gotten this far!! The last week or so I have gotten a little glimpse of what it will be like when we are FINALLY open! I have been in an huge empty space for six months now so it has been wonderful to have some people there with me!

One of our amazing Yoga Teachers, Gina, is a DJ, so she set up her decks on our movable bar and played a little mix.

We all got to enjoy some groovy and chilled beats while we shared some delicious food.

It was SO good to have a little glimpse of how lovely it is up on the terrace, meeting new people and generally hanging out.

Oh and this is our new super cozy corner...a giant mattress sprinkled with pillows! For all of those lazy afternoons.

These were some of the vegan treats we have been sampling the last few weeks…

Our PERFECT tacos!

Our Ginger and Adzuki bean spring rolls!

And our Bliss smoothie :)

Starting Point

Well, what can I say? Opening a business is NOT easy. That is for sure! We have come upon countless challenges. It has been a roller coaster of emotions...totally excited one minute, and then wondering what the heck I got myself into the next.

This is a very big project, considering it is my first ever business! But hey – this is where I have ended up, so we will keep pushing on! Opening date of January was waaaay too optimistic, at the moment we are looking at the end of March!! YES, MARCH!! Can you all wait that long? I hope so.

I have been very very busy with permits and licenses and documents and POS systems and a lot of other boring behind the scenes stuff. I have also been busy painting the walls, breaking up pallets for our recycled pallet bar, designing logos, writing websites, making signs and all sorts of other very exciting stuff! It is coming along SLOWLY but SURELY!!
